Hi All

just have a question for the solar gurus out there. I have recently been given a 190 watt solar panel (used on home solar installations). The panel has an open circuit voltage of 42.5volts and a short circuit current of 5.62amps. How can I make use of this panel for topping up a 12volt battery whilst camping, Jaycar told me they don't sell a regulator to do this. Just wondering if anyone else has come up with a way of doing this or has any ideas.

Hi Charli,

there are very few solar regulators out there which can do this for you.
It's got to be a MPPT, but none of the cheap ones because their processor isn't smart enough to handle a voltage mismatch between panel and battery.

yep - sunsaver mppt is an awesome regulator. morningstar also do the tristar mppt, but the are a little dearer.

I think watts2c have them on their web site
